Essex talks out of his hat
At our October meeting our speaker was the Earl of Essex, with a subject close to all members' hearts—hats. Specifically the various types of men's hat and the circumstances under which it is appropriate to wear each one. (I say "appropriate", but this is very much from a vintage perspective, given that few men wear hats at all these days, and when they do the hats in question tend to be baseball caps, beenies and other headgear about which Essex had nothing good to say.) Unsurprisingly, there were many hats in evidence, including several men's hats being sported by women. You can see a video of the full talk (along with protracted questions from the floor at the end) at youtu.be/yhB9E8Ckl0Y and you can see more photos from the evening at flickr.com/photos/sheridanclub/albums/72177720330051850.
