NSC Pub Crawl, Part 1

  • Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese  (Wine Office Court), 145 Fleet St, EC4A 2BP (map)

Our starting point, Ye Older Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street

For years CAMRA luminary Mr Ian White has been conducting an annual pub crawl for the club, each one focusing on a particular area or theme. This years crawl is a central London escapade featuring hidden boozers. “I have always been leading friends and drinkers up alleyways and other destinations that may not look at first glance appealing,” he says. “I have enough pubs in mind to do two crawls this year, one on a Saturday and another on a Friday evening in November time.”

Part 1 will take place on Saturday 4th July, starting off at 3pm at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese  (Wine Office Court), 145 Fleet St, EC4A 2BP  (Sam Smiths). From here the crawl will proceed thus:

4.30: Ye Olde Mitre, 1 Ely Court, Ely Place,  EC1N 6SJ (Fullers)

5.00: The Ship Tavern, 12 Gate St, WC2A 3HP (Ev Inns). A 16th-century pub near Holborn, accessible through several alleyways

6.00: Shakespeare Head, Africa House, 64–68 Kingsway, Holborn, WC2B 6BG (Wetherspoons). A quick stop for food

7.00: Princess Louise, 208 High Holborn, WC1V 7EP (Sam Smiths). We will be passing this gem, so it would be rude not to pop in

8.00: Lamb & Flag, 33 Rose St, Covent Garden, WC2E 9EB (Fullers)

9.00: Nell Gwynne Tavern 1–2 Bull Inn Court, Covent Garden, WC2R 0NP (Youngs)
