The Candlelight Club’s 16th Birthday (and Clayton’s 60th)

  • A secret location Somewhere is south London, England United Kingdom (map)

Admission: £30 in advance
Dress: 1920s elegance

The Candlelight Club is an award-winning clandestine pop-up 1920s speakeasy, in a secret London venue lit by candles, run by the NSC’s own Clayton Hartley. Each event offers live period jazz bands and vintage vinylism for your dancing pleasure, plus a dining option, cocktails bars and more.

This time we’ll be celebrating 16 years of the club, with hosting by Weimar Vixen Eva Von Schnippisch, live music from the Red Hot Rhythm Revival and burlesque from Miss Jolie Papillon. When the band aren’t playing, DJs the Bee's Knees will be spinning vintage vinyl into the night.

In a side room our tarot reader Ms Firefly will be on hand to glimpse into your future, and Michelle Krausz will be offering sparkling delights at her pop-up vintage jewellery shop.

As if that weren’t enough excitement, Mr Hartley himself will be celebrating his own 60th birthday at the event, so come along and glimpse your Secretary before decrepitude claims him.

Our venue will be a 100-year-old south London hidden gem, a mixture of industrial chic and period glamour. You can come just for drinks and dancing but you can also reserve a table with Champagne, or book the three-course dinner. There’s even an inclusive-drinks option. Ticket-holders receive an email two days before revealing the secret location (which is close to a tube station). So pull on your flapper dress and get ready to Charleston…

"The closest you'll find to an authentic Jazz Age experience in central London. Its unique ambience, fuelled by hundreds of candles, is truly a scene to behold." —Time Out
