The Dandy: A People's History of Sartorial Splendour

  • The Fashion and Textile Museum 83 Bermondsey Street London, England, SE1 3XF United Kingdom (map)

Admission: £17.50 (£15.50 student)

We may associate the concept of the dandy—a man excessively fixated on style and appearance—with high status, well connected gentleman like Oscar Wilde or Beau Brummell. But what of the working-class and everyday dandies?

Join historian and writer Peter Andersson at this in-person talk as he demonstrates that dandyism is far from just an elite phenomenon represented by famous poets and artists. Admission includes a complimentary drink and entry to the exhibition Costume Couture: Sixty Years of Cosprop.
