Art Deco Weekend in Worthing

  • Chatsworth Hotel The Steyne Worthing, England, BN11 3DU United Kingdom (map)

James Arnott is organising another of his period-focused walking tours, this time exploring some of the Art Deco treasures that Worthing and the south-east coast have to offer. On the Sunday a guided walk round the town will visit some of its more notable Deco sites, which include the Connaught Theatre, the Concert Pavilion, the pier and the Dome cinema, followed by a hop on the bus to the recently restored, Grade 2* listed, Saltdean Lido for a tour and lunch.

On the way back the tour will drop into the magnificent Shoreham Aerodrome for a look round, followed by tea in the Hummingbird Restaurant, which presents a perfect back-drop for photographs.

For those who wish to stay the weekend, there will be cocktails and a black tie dinner on the Art Deco Worthing pier on the Saturday night.

Tickets are available from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/historic-events/t-pqjgezm. Note that as of 15th September the original batch had just sold out, but James has advised that interested parties should contact him via the “contact organiser” button at the bottom of the ticket page, as he may well release more tickets. The online ticket is for £10 but the full price is £50: you will be contacted for the balance shortly before the event.

Ticket holders will be sent a full schedule, with details of accommodation. Please tick the relevant boxes and please take note of the terms and conditions.

Dress Code: This is a fully immersive costumed event, so 1925–1939 period dress (day and evening) is strongly encouraged.
